James Buffin Interview

James Buffin Author Bio:

James Buffin is passionate about making dreams a reality. Never give up on your dreams, and don’t be afraid to tweak them, either.

Tell us about your book?

It is an epic story set in the 15th century in a fantasy world where darkness is taking over. Azrael and Abaddon are set by God to save ALL from hell on earth. Azrael the Angel of Death teams up with Abaddon The Last Hell Knight to stop Lucifer from breaking open the seals to hell.

Why should anyone read your book?

My book is a thrilling escape from reality with a message of kindness. It has adventure, it has gore, it has heartwarming family moments. There are many scenarios in my book that most can relate to.

When and Why did you get into writing fantasy?

I played a lot of video games as a kid. I’m a huge fan of Zelda. When I was about four years old I decided I wanted to make video games. As I got older I realized I didn’t have the ability to code the different game ideas I had. Time went by and I continued to get idea after idea for storylines. I didn’t know what to do with them. I started writing them down in notebooks and that’s as far as it went till here last year.

What inspires you to write?

It’s therapeutic for me. It helps me get out all my anger, angst, anxiety and irritability. I also have a love for stories. I love to hear a good story and love to tell a good story.

Do you follow any fantasy entertainment outside of books?

YES! Like I said before, I’m a huge fan of Zelda. I love Resident Evil, Diablo, Borderlands and so many more. I also enjoy playing D&D

What are you currently working on?

My second book The Book of Azrael: Brothers In Blood

Do you have a process?

Yes, I do, for the first half of book one I wrote from the seat of my pants. Then my sister showed me how to do outlines. After that, me and my sister started expanding the story.

How do you overcome writer’s block?

I do what is called dump writing. You just write all your ideas out and by doing this you unbury the good ideas.

Do you involve others in your writing?

Yes, I have friends and family that give me feedback on the story. My sister Amanda is not only my biggest supporter, she’s my co-writer. I started alone but whenever I was stuck, lost or just wanted to give up my sister was there to pick me up or help talk out the story. This project would have never gotten done without her. Thank you so much sis.

Must read fantasy novels.

Harry Potter
Lord of the Rings
The Hobbit
The Two Towers
Gears of War novels
Diablo novels
Resident Evil novels
